Off topic from games, but I saw this list of "traits of great leaders" and thought it was appropriate to disseminate:
- Withstand adversity
- Diverse perspectives
- Loyalty
- Admit mistakes
- Manage emotions
- Define goals
- Relax
These seem important for anyone really, but I would expect them from the person who leads. I remember in January being in a non-Sun meeting where the manager denigrated, yelled, and coerced subordinates -- she continues to do that, and just recently suffered a team "walkout" with several complaints going to HR.
The point is: choose your teams carefully, choose your supervisors even more carefully.
