We should not rely on the stereotype that only tech-savvy and young people are playing games.
Popcap.com says that over 19% of their online game subscribers are over 60. They are building games specifically designed for seniors, and beginning to work extensively with seniors in new game development research.
In 2005, the Entertainment Software Association reported that "the average game player age is 30." The survey breakdown went like this:
- 35% were under 18 years old
- 43% were 18-49 years old
- 19% were 50+ years old
in 1999, only 9% of those aged 50 or over played video games.
